RICHMOND HILL – York Region MPPs Chris Ballard, Steven Del Duca, Michael Chan, Dr. Helena Jazcek, and Reza Moridi are pleased to announce that Ontario is creating opportunity and security for the people in York Region and across the province through a series of comprehensive measures introduced during the spring legislative sitting. These measures support good jobs, fair workplaces and better wages, prepare our workforce for the new innovation economy and make life more affordable for workers, students, seniors and families.
Ontario’s economy is in a relatively strong position. However, many people are not feeling that growth in their everyday lives. To help more York Region residents get ahead and stay ahead in a changing economy, the government has announced actions that will make a positive difference in people’s lives. These are possible because Ontario has balanced the budget. These actions include:
Actions introduced this legislative sitting are part of our plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.
“Ontario’s economy is strong — and it is growing. Yet many people feel uncertain about their futures in a changing world. As a government, we can and must be a force for good. That is why we are taking bold action so that everyone can feel more secure and confident about the future. We are making life more affordable and fair, and investing in the people, communities and businesses that make our province great. We are building a better life and a better future for everyone.”
–– Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario
“I am excited about the strong measures taken during this spring legislative sitting – these actions are part of our government's plan to build a healthier, fairer and stronger province that offers opportunity now, and a more secure future for every Ontarian.”

“I am proud to be part of a government that accomplished so much for the residents of Ontario during the spring sitting of the legislature. It is clear that residents of Newmarket-Aurora will benefit from our legislation. Key legislation passed recently includes: expanding pharmacare, investing in education, cutting wait times in hospitals, building more transit and improving roads. Our focus is to help Ontario residents get ahead and stay ahead in a changing economy.”
–– Chris Ballard, M.P.P., Newmarket-Aurora
“Our government has worked hard this past session to ensure that each and every Ontarian has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from our province’s strong economic success. Our initiatives this session have been broad-ranging, including making life more affordable and protections for the most vulnerable in our society, and address the concerns most raised by my constituents and all Ontarians.”
–– Michael Chan, M.P.P., Markham-Unionville
“Our government is working hard to build a fairer and stronger Ontario by passing 17 bills during the spring sitting of the legislature. From healthcare improvements, addressing housing affordability, to creating more jobs, we are working to help all residents in their everyday lives. I am especially proud of the passing of the Safer School Zones Act, which will ensure that our most vulnerable are protected in Vaughan and across the province.”
–– Steven Del Duca, M.P.P., Vaughan
“I'm so pleased to see the results of another successful legislative session that will benefit residents in Oak Ridges-Markham from our government's work to make life more affordable for students, seniors and families, while supporting good jobs, fair workplaces, better wages, and preparing our workforce for the new innovation economy.”
